The bad thing about SEO is that it’s easier to get things wrong than to get it right. And even if you do manage to get it right, there’s no guarantee that it will stay that way for long. From the perspective of a company that’s worked in the field for quite a while, we know how quickly the winds of change start blowing, especially when Google decide that there’s something new they can totally give their clients in order to make their search easier. So things tend to change quite a lot when we’re talking about SEO. Here’s three practices you should definitely discontinue.
1. Not getting enough content
Having just “some” content on your website is not enough. The thing about content is that it’s supposed to attract people. Long gone are the days when you could just stuff your pages with keywords and the people would come because you would have a high rank. Now you have to work for it. Better content means more people, meaning higher rank. However, that can’t happen if you don’t have enough content.
2. Copying your competitors
Sure, that’s a great idea. Follow in others’ footsteps. At least you’ll know where you’re going. Of course, the bad thing about following is that, by definition, you’re behind. So if you want to get ahead, stop following and start doing something original, or at least come up with a different way of doing things.
3. Not using responsive web design
Responsive web design is needed these days, because nearly 50% of all queries on Google are made through a mobile device. So much so that they recently released a new update regarding mobile. If your website is not mobile friendly, you’re both losing customers and rank.
