Does RankBrain Mean a Revolution in the World of SEO?
Google is constantly updating their algorithms, but every once in a while they make an announcement that shakes the very foundations of the SEO world (at least for a little while) and saying that over 15% of queries will go through something called RankBrain (which suspiciously resembles an AI) is one such moment in SEO history.
What is RankBrain?
Generally speaking, RankBrain is an addition to Google’s algorithms that processes about 15% of queries and is pretty darn good at it. It’s basically a software that has been taught what to look for in queries and spit out the proper results. Does this mean a revolution in the world of SEO? Has the end of the world finally come? Are we doomed? Not necessarily. It’s true that it’s a change and not a small one, but at the end of the day there are still people watching over it. RankBrain may resemble an AI but it’s still a computer (albeit a really powerful one), and even though its inner workings may evolve overtime (it may decide to enslave humanity, for example), it is still based on pre-programmed pathways. This means that things are not going to be that different. More efficient – perhaps.
How Does it Work?
The system is learning and translates written language into computer technobabble and then tries to identify the meanings. RankBrain will process mainly new queries and is showing some remarkable results right now. Does this mean a huge change for us? No, everything is going to be fine. As long as you keep off the black hat stuff, your sites should keep ranking as they did.
