Google often make changes to their algorithms. That’s what Google does because, after all they may be the biggest search engine right now, but the Internet is changing fast, so they have to constantly adapt if they want to stay ahead. At the end of the day, it is not good to lie on your old laurels, because along comes a spider (yes, these is a social network reference) and takes you out of the game. Being the biggest isn’t always as glamorous as people and can change in an instant. Those are the times we live in. Sad, we know.
Anyway, back to Google’s updates. So Google do this relatively often and most of it remains unnoticed for most people, even SEO specialists. However, every once in a while, there is a new update that begins to stir things up and wreak havoc and panic among the population. Their “mobile friendly” update was the latest such update and began rolling out a little more than a week ago.
The premise was that since the update is mobile oriented, it will reward those sites that are mobile-friendly and punish those sites that weren’t. Of course, as always everyone began to panic – jobs on the line and all that. However, not much happened, honestly. It was like not much had changed. At least for now, things seem relatively steady and only a small amount of people report any positive or negative consequences. This doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s all over – we don’t know how long the update is going roll out, but like we said it’s been more than a week and there is not much change. It seems that we’ve dodged the bullet (again). Still, to be on the safe side, make sure that your site is mobile-friendly, not just for SEO purposes, but for your clients, as well.
